The design process begins with the initial client meeting in which the desired mood, function, artistic quality and elements are discussed at length. Consideration shall be given to the site’s unique characteristics and historical importance when appropriate. Preservation and enhancement of historical character and considerations of how best to mitigate site constraints that may challenge desired final composition are taken into full account early on.
Preliminary design review involves the presentation of the design development through rough concept sketches, elevations and various elements of inspiration such as photos, pieces of art, characteristic furniture, accessories, potential materials, colors and planting concepts.
Depending on the scale and scope of the work the preliminary design review process may be refined over a number of meetings that is determined to be most appropriate for the individual project. The preliminary phase is estimated on a project specific basis.
Final Design development takes place after the preliminary design is agreed upon by the client. The process of plan preparation may involve project specific consultants depending on the scale, scope and special requirements of the project and jurisdictions. During final design most of the very detailed and original design elements and planting combinations are created and painstakingly reviewed for overall appropriateness, high artistic result, and constructibility.
